Due to the ongoing Corona Virus Pandemic (Covid-19) we wished to provide an update on the services we can provide. The advice and guidance is changing daily but we are now advising the following –

Arrangements (Updated 10th July 2020)
Where possible, funeral arrangements will be made entirely over the phone, email or online Zoom meeting. If this is not possible, visits to the parlour should be made by appointment only, with no more than two family members attending.  In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, face coverings must be worn and hand sanitiser will be available at reception.  If required, face masks will be provided free of charge.

You are now no longer able to attend an appointment to register a death. This will be done ‘remotely’. The death certificate (issued by the GP, Hospital, or Procurator Fiscal) will need to be emailed to the registrar along with information relating to both a loved one and next of kin (Your funeral director will do this for you if needed) At present it is unknown when the registrar will be able to issue the ‘Form 14’ to allow the funeral to take place. As a result, the date and time of the funeral cannot be confirmed until the registration is complete and Form 14 issued.

Limousines (Updated 10th July 2020)
We are now able to provide limousine(s) for services for a maximum of 6 passengers.  In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, all passengers must wear a face covering when travelling in the limousine.  Face masks, if required, will be provide free of charge.

Personalised Options (Updated 13th July 2020)
Orders of service are now available.  We have removed donation boxes from services. We can however offer online donations as part of an online tribute. The option of taking fingerprints for memorial jewellery is now also available.

Floral Tributes
We are working closely with our partner florist to make floral tributes available but this option maybe removed. We will advise clients on the current situation at the time.

Viewing (Updated 13th July 2020)
We can again provide the option to visit our chapel of rest to visit a loved one. For confirmed non-covid-19 deaths, the coffin can remain opened when visiting.  For confirmed Covid-19 deaths, the coffin will remain closed.  Visiting will be appointment only with a maximum of two people visiting at one time. In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines,  face coverings must be worn and hand sanitiser will be available at reception.  If required, face masks will be provided free of charge.

Crematoriums (Updated 13th July 2020)
In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, funerals should be attended with no more than 20 people.  Our local crematorium ‘Woodside’ the maximum already is 20. Note - some crematoriums are limiting to no more than 5 people but we will advise each client depending on their chosen crematorium and any further changes as they develop.

Cemeteries (Updated 13th July 2020)
In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, funerals should be attended with no more than 20 people. Again we will confirm depending on the chosen cemetery. We have been advised families can no longer carry a loved one’s coffin to the graveside, cannot take a cord to lower the coffin and families must stand where possible on pathways or areas designated for families to gather.

Parlour Services
Our service room will now not be offered as a venue. Services will only take place at Crematoriums or Cemeteries.

Catering Venues (Updated 10th September 2020)
From 14th September 2020 numbers allowed to attend funeral wakes and gatherings will increase to 20.  This will only apply to commercial venues i.e restaurants, pubs, hotels etc. who facilitate these (to date a large number of local venues are still not operating to cater following a funeral)  The number does not apply to house gatherings and private garden functions which are now restricted to six persons from a total of two households.

We thank you for your understanding at this time!
