Kenneth Keegan - Independent Funeral Directors, Paisley, Johnstone and Renfrewshire - call us on 0141 889 6351

Due to the ongoing Corona Virus Pandemic (Covid-19) we wished to provide an update on the services we can provide. The advice and guidance is changing daily but we are now advising the following –

Arrangements (Updated 12th May 2021)
Where possible, visits to the parlour should be made by appointment, with no more than two or three family members attending.  In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, face coverings must be worn and hand sanitiser will be available at reception - If required, face masks will be provided free of charge.  On arrival, clients will be requested to complete contact details for 'Track and Protect'.

You are now no longer able to attend an appointment to register a death. This will be done ‘remotely’. The death certificate (issued by the GP, Hospital, or Procurator Fiscal) will need to be emailed to the registrar along with information relating to both a loved one and next of kin (Your funeral director will do this for you if needed) At present it is unknown when the registrar will be able to issue the ‘Form 14’ to allow the funeral to take place. As a result, the date and time of the funeral cannot be confirmed until the registration is complete and Form 14 issued.

Limousines (Updated 4th January 2021)
We are able to provide limousine(s) for services for a maximum of 6 passengers per limousine. NOTE whilst we will endeavour to ensure limousines are available when requested, there could become a situation where members of staff have to be 'self isolating' and we can no longer facilitate the provision of a limousine(s).  The cancellation of the limousine could be as late as the day of the funeral but we will do all we can where possible to provide this service.  In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, all passengers must wear a face covering when travelling in the limousine.  Face masks, if required, will be provide free of charge.

Personalised Options (Updated 4th January 2021)
Orders of service are available but singing is not permitted at venues where the service will take place.  We have removed donation boxes from services. We can however offer online donations as part of an online tribute. The option of taking fingerprints for memorial jewellery is available in certain circumstances, your funeral director will advise if this is possible.

Floral Tributes
We are working closely with our partner florist to ensure our full range of floral tributes are available.

Viewing (Updated 4th January 2021)
We can provide the option to visit our chapel of rest to visit a loved one. For confirmed non-covid-19 deaths, the coffin can remain opened when visiting.  For confirmed Covid-19 deaths, the coffin will remain closed.  Visiting will be appointment only with a maximum of two of three people visiting at one time. In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines,  face coverings must be worn and hand sanitiser will be available at reception.  If required, face masks will be provided free of chargeNOTE your funeral director will advise if this is possible at the time of arranging the funeral.  Depending on the situation at the time of arranging, the option of visiting the chapel may have to be removed to ensure the safety of our team and to also ensure scheduled funerals can go ahead in the event of staff members having to 'self isolate' at short notice.

Crematoriums (Updated 12th May 2021)
In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines from 26th April 2021, funerals should be attended with no more than 50 people.  * NOTE this number is dependent on a venues size.  Social distancing must still be in place meaning the maximum number permitted at certain venues will be less than 50.  Our local crematorium ‘Woodside’ the maximum will be 48. This will be made from 38 being accommodated in the main chapel with an additional 10 spaces available in the overflow/remembrance room.  For alternative crematoriums, we will advise each client on the maximum number depending on their chosen crematorium and any further changes as they develop.  At some venues, families can no longer carry a loved one’s coffin into crematorium.  If so, the venue will provide a coffin bier (trolley) to safely convey the coffin into the chapel with only our staff members assisting.

Cemeteries (Updated 4th January 2021)
In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, funerals should be attended with no more than 50 people. Again we will confirm depending on the chosen cemetery. We have been advised families can no longer carry a loved one’s coffin to the graveside, cannot take a cord to lower the coffin and families must stand where possible on pathways or areas designated for families to gather.  The cemetery / our staff will safely convey the coffin from the hearse to the graveside.

Places of Worship (Added 12th May 2021)

In line with the Scottish Governments guidelines, funerals can still take place at a place of worship but should  be attended with no more than 50 people.  This will be venue dependent and your funeral director will advise accordingly. At some venues, families can no longer carry a loved one's coffin into/out of the place of worship.  On the day, our staff members will safely convey the coffin from the hearse into the place of worship and back to the hearse following the service.  A coffin bier (trolley) will be used.

Parlour Services (Updated 12th May 2021)
Our service room is now available as a venue for holding a loved ones service. Although our service room can seat 50 persons, this will be limited to comply with social distancing.  Your funeral director will provide guidance on the capacity on each occasion where the service room is required.

Catering Venues (Updated 20th April 2021)
From 26th April 2021, catering venues will again be allowed to facilitate funeral teas.  The maximum numbers to attend will be venue dependent.

We thank you for your understanding at this time!
